After hearing live jazz for the first time he realised this was the music he wanted to play. He devoted himself to this art form, performing with Georgie Fame, Vince Jones, Wilbur Wilde’s Blowout and Richie Cole amongst many others as well as leading his own trio.

Matt joined the Moovin’ and Groovin’ Orchestra as a vocalist in 1994, headlining as a big band singer as well as singing jazz standards with his own band.

Matt’s debut album “Translucent” (released in 1996) was an all instrumental album of original compositions. Translucent garnered an ARIA nomination and wider critical acclaim and profile for Matt in Australian jazz / fusion circles.
